Lake Metroparks presents
34th annual AMATEUR Photography Contest

The Photo Contest and Show will look a little different this year.
Properly matted and labeled photos must be dropped off at Penitentiary Glen Nature Center
Please help us bring this popular show back by following the new guidelines listed below.


ENTRIES ACCEPTED at the front doors of Penitentiary
Glen Nature Center, 8668 Kirtland-Chardon Road,
Kirtland on these days ONLY: Friday, May 21 from noon
to 6:30 pm; Saturday, May 22 from 10 am to 4:30 pm and
Sunday, May 23 from 10 am to 4:30 pm.


DIVISIONS are Adult and Junior (ages 14 and younger).

ENTRY FEE is $5 per print for adults, $3 per print
for juniors (ages 14 and younger). Pay online or call
the Registration Department at 440-358-7275 Monday
through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm.


NUMBER OF ENTRIES Adults may submit a maximum
of six photographs in the contest; Juniors (ages 14
and younger) may enter a maximum of three photos in
the contest. No more than two photographs may be
submitted by anyone in a single category.

OPENING RECEPTION There will be no reception
this year. Look for the winners to be posted on
lakemetroparks.com beginning Saturday, June 5


PRIZES are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and
Best of Show winners. Ribbons are awarded to 1st, 2nd
and 3rd place and Honorable Mention winners in each
category. All winners are determined by independent
contest judges.

EXHIBIT of all qualifying entries will be displayed online
from Saturday, June 5 to Sunday, August 8. Please visit

CATEGORIES: Photos can be either film or digital

1. LAKE METROPARKS: Color photos should highlight
a unique natural aspect of a particular park within
Lake Metroparks and may include people, animals or
architecture as it relates to the park. The park location
must be clearly identified. Please note that North
Chagrin Reservation is NOT part of Lake Metroparks.

2. LAKE ERIE: Color photographs submitted in this
category should highlight Lake Erie and its unique
shoreline. Photos may include people, animals or
architecture as it relates to the lake.

3. WILDLIFE: This category is for color photos that
feature wildlife such as birds, mammals, reptiles,
amphibians, and insects. *Note: Domestic animals do
not qualify for this category.

4. LANDSCAPE/FLORAL: Color photos in this category
should feature scenic images of nature and/or flowers.
Photos may include animals or architecture as they
relate to the landscape or flowers.

5. FEET & FOOTPRINTS: This color category can depict
human or animal feet, their footprints or tracks, in the
outdoors in any season. Human feet can be bare or
with shoes.

6. BLACK & WHITE: This category is for all black and
white photos. Subject matter can depict any of the
specified categories listed above.


NOTE: ALL PHOTOS MUST BE TAKEN IN
THE OUT-OF-DOORS WITHIN LAKE COUNTY.
